Busy Time and Key Anna moment

Last week I committed to cycling to Weobley to meet up with Farmer Phil and Monty at the karting track....
However, as things go the plan changed and FP wanted to go combining and so I had to take Monty along in the car! However, I was keen to keep to that commitment, had loaded up my iPod and so in the afternoon I decided that on my bike I would get.
I like listening to podcasts and particularly like Anna's "proper" show The Engaging Brand. I think I was listening to 177 with Gary Harpst (although I can't be sure as I am a bit behind). Anyway she will let us know if I am wrong, he was talking about how to make things happen and how our biggest problem is that we get bored! It struck a chord with me and low and behold Anna mentions the diet and how the long term issue is sticking to it! He explained accountability and said that he has a lady who cleans his office on a Tuesday morning and that on a Monday evening he is always in his office - cleaning before the lady comes and cleans. When she is on holiday guess what happens? Nothing!
I thought about that and realised that is what MiddleAgeShed does for me (and I hope Anna) It gives a form of accountability - a reminder - a nudge that is hard to brush off...
And so dear reader, that is why I am here writing this blog post on a Friday evening - as I know I will be recording with Anna in the morning and have failed to write any in the week. But it is also why this week I have cycled 3 times (and did a good 30 miles total), have played tennis three times and have been reasonably careful with what I have eaten.
Good old Shedder and good old Anna and good old you
Thanks from me.

Why I am intrigued, this diet week...

On last weeks podcast, Heather teased us all by saying that she had a special plan for this week on how to lose weight. I have to say I am intrigued and cannot wait to be let in on the secret of slimming!

I have been very good again this week, exercising hard and eating well. I have had the occasional malteser....but otherwise, feeling motivated about losing weight. I think I do work better with targets and as I have agreed to go away with Mum for a few days, that has given me a date to focus upon.

That focus helps me in 2 ways

  • I have a target date but also
  • For some unknown reason I start to think slim! I picture myself being the weight that I want to be for the holiday. I start holding myself differently and acting - and eating - like that person.

Human beings are so weird...well I am! However, Heather I am intrigued and cannot wait to hear the Heather secret to slimming success :)

Balance

mmmm, not a great week so far in terms of the new healthy eating plan with moderation and balance to the fore! Whilst I have exercised well - two bike rides, one tennis match and one game of tennis there have been two issues and one more coming up.
1: Piggy Day - a village event with pork and pigs and beer - I partook fully in the festivities and had a wonderful time
2: Blowout day... Yesterday we attempted to go live with a new computer system at Wiggly Wigglers and....failed! It was a pretty stressful experience so the key players involved went out for a drink, or three and a meal!!! and chocolate!!!
3: Tomorrow is my Birthday, and whilst today has seen a wonderful recovery - there will be another celebration tomorrow to enjoy.
Dont worry team, I may not be perfect, but I will have a great time and I will compensate today and early tomorrow and be back on course on Saturday.
Rock on team

Dining Out on a Diet

Both Heather and I struggle when we have dinners out, when we are at conferences, meetings or going out to a social event.

Help is at hand - just found these tips for eating out and keeping the weight off

As I believe it might be Heathers birthday tomorrow, thought this might help her celebrations :)

So Heather, as another birthday arrives...does it get harder to lose weight as you get older? You see I am still A LOT younger and not sure what it is like for you older birds :)

Could We Be the Answer for Rising Fuel Prices

Heather have you read about the boat powered by human fat! It was on Trendhunter

" Pete Bethune and two crew members underwent liposuction, gathering a total of 2.5 gallons of excess blubber to power the speed boat. Their fat alone was enough to produce 2 gallons of fuel. He put the lard in motor and says under optimal conditions, the boat could run a successful 9 miles."

I am thinking it could be great motivation if we converted our cars! If you don't lose weight, you would have to walk....sure I would have enough left over for Farmer Phils combine if that helps??
