Anna and Heather are great examples - and role models to all - on exactly this point. So, what am I talking about, you may well ask? It is simply that, if the goal is worth achieving, you will do what it takes to reach it whatever the hardship or inconvenience. Both Heather and Anna, on their mission to change their lifestyle and dietary habits for the future, are finding ways of dealing with the changes that they are having to make in very positive ways. And, this is the key. It is so important to stay positive. Focus on your goal and make it achievable by breaking it down to smaller, bite-sized chunks. As Anna has broken her target down to 7lb "chunks" of weight-loss at a time, she can regularly see the progress. She is never too far away from her next target. The best motivator is that of success, of winning. Similarly, Heather has set herself a fitness target - of being able to run a certain distance by a certain date. Instead of setting out to run a marathon from a standing start (no pun intended!) she is working on smaller distances and building these up over time. By making regular progress, you will stay more motivated and in control of reaching your goals.
Well done ladies - I'm very proud of you!
Whenever I'm exercising and finding it tough, I start talking to myself. I have two "mantra's":
- When the going gets tough, the tough get going!
- Quitters don't win; Winners don't quit!
