Exercise Addiction....?!!
I've felt it. I have. Today.
Its been there in the background since the podcast a week last Saturday but finally today I genuinely felt that I wanted to.... really wanted to....go running or go swimming. I found myself consoling myself with the fact that I have a tennis match tonight so I cant go swimming! I've just checked my calendar to ensure that I can swim tomorrow night and I will be out for a couple of miles run in the morning!
Wouldn't it be great if I have caught the exercise bug! I must log how this feels - I want to exercise to get to the target but also for the following reasons - partly borrowed from Karen
1. It gets me fit.
2. It keeps me healthy.
3. It makes me feel good.
4. It makes me look good.
5. It sets a good example for my family
6. It makes my family proud of me.
7. It makes me feel proud of myself.
8. It boosts my self-confidence.
9. It makes me feel young.
10. It energises me.
11. It helps me to relax.
12. It relieves stress.
13. It improves my stamina.
14. It gets me out in the fresh air.
15. It gives me time to think.
16. It makes me learn new things.
17. It helps me to understand how my body works.
18. It teaches me to respect myself.
19. It makes me appreciate what I’ve got.
20. It gives me goals to aim for.
21. It pushes me to new limits.
22. It introduces me to new friends.
23. It allows me to listen to my favourite podcasts without interruption.
24. It inspires others to do the same.
25. Its a great excuse to try all the relaxing activities at the club like the sauna and the steam room.
26. It will get me to my weight goal quicker.

Oh my we have created a monster....should make a great show this week!

Heather that means that you have made the switch in your brain producing ' bad' chemicals to do with exercise into endorphins that make you feel great. When your mind thinks into producing feel good chemicals when you think of exercising....you have made a great stride forward. It only used to apply to ( dare I say chocolate) and you now get the same from running and swimming. Now that is healthy!
Well done on changing your chemistry. It just shows that when you change your emotional thinking, you can create physical changes too. Isn't the body great, and it will thank you for shedding that weight!

Wow! Thanks for that Anne. How do I keep it going?

well the more you enjoy it and give it the thumbs up, the more feel good chemicals you produce and the less you will activate the demands of other baddies to fulfill your needs. You have probably now reached a stage where you know in your mind that you can feel good with exercise and so keep doing that regularly to boost the feel good factor. The antidote to, I feel fat, I will go and eat a biscuit, I feel fat etc....you have changed it to...wow I am exercising, I did not think I could do that.....I can do that....it feels good, wow I have lost weight...I feel good etc etc. You get the picture. You can be really bold and go for a swim on days that you recognise a bad feeling and give it that good boost of endorphns. Hope that is as clear as mud?
