Free Your Mind Boundaries - we are literally surrounded by them....speed limits, credit limits, age limits, some are good, some are bad. The ones that I need freeing up, are the ones that are internally created. Do you recognize any of these saying either from yourself or in your business I can't..... It's not my job.... I'm not good enough.... I don't need to attend that development course, I know what to do... That's wrong... It's not my place to say... Think about Ham and Eggs - the chicken is involved but the pig is committed. People who work with you, are often involved but have they committed their brains? Without that incredible muscle the brain, that person is not fully committed and not working at their optimum. So let's encourage this commitment by encouraging and think more about replacing the above with the following: I can't becomes I want to .....I can do anything I set my mind to as long as I am committed to succeeding It is my role to help the company succeed, how can I help others to achieve this I am good at what I do, if I am not sure I will ask but my greatest strength is that I continuously learn and understand that it is OK to make a mistake as long as I learn from it. Everyone needs to continuously develop to stay moving forward...I am never too old to learn. That is an interesting view, help me understand your point of view more.... Everyone is important in this company - and holding a viewpoint is good, it means that I am engaged and interested....we don't all have to agree all the time. To do this you need people to feel free to express themselves openly - yes, with respect - but free from being seen as "difficult"....encourage some freedom, encourage diversity and help people feel valued and watch them move from involved to committed.
