I was reading this Church of the Customer blog about the need for marketing to reinvent themselves. For me this is not marketing specific, every individual, every team, every profession need to reinvent themselves as a matter of course. Reinvention should be constant so that people do not even suspect you evolving....without this mind set people find themselves losing respect, losing appeal and then a notorious "change program" is needed. One way to avoid change programs which succeed rarely and only over time...EVOLVE, GROW, DEVELOP. My 3 top tips for evolving
- Widen your reading - look for trends that are happening and then see how that effects you, your team, your company.
- Learn to listen...often the ideas are out there but people hear the issues but don't listen.
- Understand you are not the finished article whether you are a co, team, individual. Don't be complacent....complacency kills. Encourage development, encourage dialogue, encourage stretching the targets, make sure your vision is stretching your ability.
