4 Steps to Engagement
An often asked question at events that I run, is "I need to get them engaged now, how do I do it?"
Wow, after taking a big deep breath I try and explain that engagement is not a quick fix, and it is not something that you can "make". It is about creating a culture in which engagement flourishes. For me, people need to go through this cycle and I will write more on each later this week.
Attract:- You need to provide a reason to why they want to join you.
Motivate:- You need to tap into their personal aspirations and see it as your role to understand their motivations and use that to bring out the talent.
Inspire:- They must believe that YOU can help them achieve their aspirations, and see what TOGETHER you can build. They must be able to see the direction that they are going and believe in it.
Engage:- They need to understand how their role helps the company achieve its vision. Engaging for me, is when people feel valued, are motivated, inspired by the vision and understand how they can contribute and what that will mean for them personally.
