Self Development that scares you

Eleanor Roosevelt said "Do one thing every day that scares you". I love that, in fact I love a lot of Eleanor Roosevelt's quotes.

Think about it, "scares" you. That must mean the adrenline is flowing that you are outside your comfort zone, that you are managing risk, that you are pushing the boundaries...that you are passionately running from mediocrity.

This does not mean that you have to be stupid - I am scared diving from a high board - so I always check that there is enough water first. But I am still scared. I assess the risks, I ensure that there is no danger....and then I push myself to make that dive. That is the same with business, assess the risk but don't let risk manage you, you manage the risk. OK sometimes you may belly flop - and that may hurt(!) - but on other occassions you will soar elegantly and get the applause from those around the pool.

Business is risk. Doing nothing is the riskiest tactic, as that is certain to be putting you behind the competition. With risk comes fear, this can either be used positively to ignite your passion to make it succeed. Or it can engulf you so that it fails. The way to learn is to practice, the more you practice managing risk the better at it you become!
