How NOT to present change

So a little story....

A man decides it is time to move nearer to his work. He decides the house, the decor, the schools...all is set, so he books a room at a local hotel asks for a projector and some nibble bites and invites his family there...

He asks his bank manager to do a 20 minutes presentation on why it makes sense financially, an interior designer to explain the colour schemes, the local headmistress to sell the school, the removal people to explain the process...The presentation is professional, accurate and fully to his liking he turns to his family to now ask them to go into a breakout room to do a SWOT analysis of their thoughts...

Crazy story?? Crazy to think that this will be taken well by the family? Forgotten to get buy in, forgotten that they may not want to move unless there is something in it for them and that they can help create the new dream house?

So next time your boss asks you to put a roadshow together - ask will this lead to divorce from my team!
