I always finish The Engaging Brand podcast with the Dr Maya Angelou quote, which I have used throughout my business career for presentations
"People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel"
Why is this important? Well because we feel before we think according to science, that is why I believe engagement is linked to how effectively we stir the positive emotions in people. People see through faked emotions, indeed emotions can rarely be faked.
That is why when you want to engage people with your personal or corporate brand, you need to believe in what you are saying, what you are wanting to achieve, the values you portray and be able to portray your passion.
Clearly, the person needs to see the value to them personally however if you can influence their mood before they form their thought, you have a much higher greater chance of engagement.
