Blogging Brings Internal as well as External Benefits
Working with clients on whether to blog or how to get started blogging, I find some of the benefits are as internal than external.
- It gives you a real insight into not what you think your culture is...but what your culture ACTUALLY is....
- It gives the leadership team an insight into how you need to develop the next generation of leaders and management. A couple of areas that I have found has really helped are coaching sessions around :- creating reslience, managing stress, how to listen effectively, the connection of internal and external branding.
- Blogging can uncover some great ideas and also uncover talent hidden within your business.
- It is a great tool to measure the level of engagement with the business and the strategy.
- It can really help communication across the functions, build a respect level between teams - if done correctly!
- Highlight pressure points within the business
- Increase the emphasis on communication skills, especially the power of words.
Blogging is not for every company. If you have a closed culture then I don't see the value of appearing something that you are not. However, the benefits of blogging go beyond just using the tool - it helps give clarity to the culture, the talent and the strength in depth within the organisation.
