We thought we would have some fun around the theme of 12 days of Christmas and have 12 ways to create your own personal success in 2009. This is the second part of the interview and continues on from the previous show

1. You are no one, until somebody hates you!
2. Tell the truth
3. Start a movement
4. Speak in your own voice
5. Position Yourself
6. Find your story and connect it with what you are selling .....And today we talk about
7. Learn how to tell your story well - don't be boring!
8. Start your own fan club, start building your own audience  - including lessons from Barrack Obama.
9. Name everything.
10. Aim high, start early and work hard to make it happen.
11. Promote yourself from salesman to expert
12. Leave them wanting more....

99th Way of Living the Moment!

My wonderful Nana is 99 today, yes she is frail and suffering from flu at the moment but she still makes me smile and I wanted to share with you all, a saying that she told me more years ago than I wish to admit :)

"Don't live in the past, the past has gone. Don't live in the future as the future is not here. Live in the moment and make each moment special by making someone smile...."

 I often feel we are so busy thinking of what we should have done, thinking about what we like to do that we forget about now......let 2009 be the year of now, the year of living the moment, the year when the world finds happiness with what they have now......the year when we make each other smile.

Don't be a turkey!

Reminded today, being with mum and talking about dad, of a Christmas over 20 years ago. I was standing in the kitchen talking about something that was frustrating me - can't remember what it was - Dad turned to me and said

"Look at the turkey and learn one thing our Anna - lose your head and your stuffed!"

I couldn't stop laughing and suddenly the problem had disappeared. Since that day, I have always tried to see the funny side in all that goes wrong - difficult at times but when you can do it, it works brilliantly.

Happy holidays and don't be a turkey this holiday season....

24 Hour Podcast For Charity

Fail Really Well....:)

I have made a career out of spectacularly failing and loving it!

Failure for me gives me an adrenaline rush-  it means that you are stretching yourself, it means that you are pushing the boundaries that exist in the world, it means that you are a step nearer to that ultimate success that will capture the world :)

Some people don't like the word failure, for me it is not the word that is important, it is the mindset...if you treat it positively then you there is no failure involved...just growth. I always think of Dad telling me about a business person he met early doors who said to him....."You can't write....you are dyslexic! You are joking, you will never succeed in business"
Dad turned to him and said "Success is about ideas and bringing ideas to life, you don't need words...you need vision" .....Dad was right and remember
Success comes through persistence....

1. Chuck Yeager threw up on his first flight and swore he was not made for air travel - he later became the first man to break the sound barrier!
2. Charles Carlson developed photocopying in 1938 - 21 years before Xerox produced the first copier.
3. George Burns was 80 when he won his first Oscar.

If success was easy, everyone would be successful. Success comes through perseverance...

TV is wonderful at raising expectations, at increasing anticipation for an upcoming show and at no time better than this - pre the holiday season and before next year. They show their trailers, they inform through teaser campaigns...all to raise awareness and excitement for upcoming shows.

Whether it be your own personal brand, or a corporate brand....have you thought about taking and using this technique for your consumers? After all, for people to be excited about your product, you need to give them a reason to become excited.

Let your history become 'mystory'

Speaking to someone the other day, I was hit by how people allow their history to be written for them. They were talking about their life and wishing that they had the chance to write a better script....mmmm

Are we not the writers of our own destiny? Yes, events happen however it is our reaction to those events that determine our destiny ? Winston Churchill once said

"History will be kind to me for I intend to write it."

Each day we are writing our own part of history. Each day at work we are writing another piece of history for our company. We are the writers of our own story, we are the stars of our own story...we can influence how kind history is to us, as we help create it.
Dad once said to me

"It is not the things that you are going to do that make you great, it is the amazing things that you do today that creates the greatness"
