The more I see social media take hold, the more I see the effect of the recession, the more I see the need to embrace creativity and change...the more I think we need to view business differently. Here are some thoughts I have been having on business
- Why do we look for a standard % growth when life isn't like that?
- Why is long standing seen as a good thing? We have disposable goods, why not have disposable companies? Come in, deliver, go, reform, new idea, etc
- If humans live through conversations, then shouldn't the conversation rather than the message be at the heart of the consumer contract?
- If we all hate the way bosses work, then why don't we build cooperatives of like minded independents?
- Could customers run the workforce or the agenda?
- Why not offer customers a stake in the company as a reward for loyalty? We do it for employees?
- If most 'older' companies lack that innovative freedom of start ups, why not have a holding company and just start ups as divisions?
- Why have employees? Why not have social contracts with self employed as a business model?
Some daft ideas maybe but I do believe the companies of the future will look at new business models and tear up the standard approaches. Humans need more engagement with their work, with their suppliers, with their brands. For me it is time that we took the creative approach to the business model itself!
