Over at Buzznetworker I posted about a BestBuy job description that requires blogging knowledge and also a twitter account which has at least 250 followers. It hammered home to me how connections are the new currency of business.
Connections are now the new currency. Connections help you build community, help you find people with similar interests, help you create a network of people who are selling your brand whilst you sleep.
I wonder....businesses used to buy companies to gain market share...will businesses now see the need to "purchase" personal brands to gain connection share?
Connections share determines your Google ranking, your technorati ranking etc So maybe connections will become part of a company's acquisition strategy?
The only proviso being that it is as much about quality of connections as it is about quantity of connections. The quality will be based on the sense of engagement the community has with the brand, be it personal or corporate brand.
Connections based on quality will be tangible, connections based on quantity will be intangible assets for the brand.
If this is true how much time do you invest in the new tangible asset called connections?
