I get frustrated when people say to me that they have no power, or that they can't do anything because they are JUST a manager, supervisor etc
Robert Altman once said that the role of the film director is
"to create a space where the actor or actress can become more than they've ever been before, more than they've dreamed of being"Now if you replace actor/actress with employee...isn't that what business is all about? You are a dream creator, a dream coach, a dream maker.....now tell me that you have no power!
As long as you are responsible for people, you have the ultimate power of helping release those dreams, allowing them to reach their potential. You don't need money to be a great manager, you need a passion for talent.....
Your role as a manager is to find those dreams, engage them again and relight the fire inside.....are you a powerful dream maker or a powerless manager of headcount?
