Are You Still Being Social or Are You Getting Social Media Fatigue? Are you being social or are you being media? Are you allowing familiarity to breed contempt? It is a question that we need to keep asking ourselves, our brands and our marketing teams, because familiarity can breed contempt. Personal relationships need work not to take them for granted....and so do customer relationships. Social marketing tools been around for a decade and with the reliance on them and with the familiarity of them....we need to keep challenging ourselves to ensure we are remembering the social as well as the media angle! You see we are all busy business people and with hectic timetables we can start to cut corners, we can start to think we are socialising and helping break down barriers between our brand and our market...when we have fallen back on merely communicating a message. Some questions to ask yourself When was the last time you added value to someone else's thoughts, a forum, a customers tweet? When was the last time you used the advanced search on twitter, facebook etc to find people with the same interests...to network, to build relationships? When was the last time you thanked your brand supporters for their loyalty? When was the last time you really thought about how to add value through content creation rather than merely 'writing a blog post'? Never forget that the social element of social media means being human, bringing fun, adding value to the lives of others.....and enjoying it! It is not a business process, it is socialising!
