Winner of The Engaging Brand Competition

Last month I decided to give away many of my business books as a further way of giving something back to the world. I set a question based on my 5 Thoughts for Bonfire Night post - asking What is the best quote or saying that you know?

The draw has been made, with all the names in a hat and drawn by my lovely neighbour for true independence...and the winner is Doug Fleener. Doug gave the following thoughts

  • A friend/mentor of mine would always ask me, " Are you working on the man you hope to be?"
  • My father told me, "If you don't take the time to enjoy the rewards of your hard work why work hard?"
  • Passion trumps knowledge and skill.  Never try to cover the lack of knowledge and skill with passion.
  • Ask for help when you need it.  Offer to help when you don't.

So for an early Christmas present here is your next chance to win a book from "The Engaging Brand library!" just complete this phrase based on a question I normally ask on the podcast

I want my legacy of the world to be.........

To win leave a comment or e-mail me at anna@theengagingbrand.com

Chance to win a leadership book!

Yesterday, I wrote about the party games that bad leaders might be planning for the coming holiday season. Then I was going through all the business books that I had read this year and an idea came to me...

Instead of me posting today the party games of great leaders that I was planning...if you can come up with the ideas in the comments section of this post then I will give away 6 business books to 6 lucky blog readers. Feel free to be as creative as possible :)
So either leave an idea for a party game  in the comments...or e-mail me at anna@theengagingbrand and the best 6 entries will get a book that could help them ignite their career!

News on a Fabulous E-Book

I was asked by Drew McClellan and Gavin Heaton to write a chapter of a soon (end of June) to be released e-book. I thought for one second and of course said yes when I saw that it was for such a wonderful cause.

Here are the salient facts as described by Drew.
* 104 authors - all writing on their take/unique view of the Age of Conversation
* Remarkable content (you're going to be delighted)
* All original content (will not be released elsewhere for at least 6 months following launch)
* All proceeds donated to Variety, the Children's Charity (monies will be given directly to the countries that align with our authors when there's a Variety chapter there)
* Downloadable e-book
* Dedicated to the life and spirit of CK's mom, Sandra Kerley I hope that you enjoy the book and let's raise money for charity - here is a list of the authors

Reading is a Success Factor

Here is a link to an article in Be Excellent that says

"A recent book seller survey of American business people indicates that the average respondent reads .7 business books every three years! In sharp contrast, respondents that are executives at Fortune 1000 companies read 6.7 books per year"

Proof I feel that to keep progressing, expanding your mind is a critical factor. Learning does not stop after school, college or university. Learning is about every day of your life. Check out the bookstore for what I believe are the books that will help your development
