Another lesson on customer management from my wise old Dad! He used to say
"Business is made up of people. People both inside and outside the company. The key to engagement Anna, is to realise that people have brains and brains have a rational and an emotive element.
Therefore to engage with people you need to appeal to the rational and emotional side.
You have to set out rational, logical reasons why customers need you in their lives. That creates the need.
You then use words and actions to appeal to their emotions.
If you want to attract employees or want to attract customers then think in a two step way
Step 1 - What value does your product or service create? How does YOUR solution solve their problem?
Step 2 - Do the word and actions you use stir positive emotions in your customer or are you writing or acting in rational rather than emotive ways? The words that you use are so powerful, your actions are so important - for instance remember how you felt when someone smiled, when someone built your self esteem."
Too often business thinks rationally and wonder why customers don't buy - but remember logic creates the need, emotion seals the deal"
I always remembered this and with the teams that I was proud to lead I always wanted to do 2 things: appeal to their heads first, then appeal to their hearts...
Thanks again Dad!
