Imagine in my grandparents era how they passed their stories and summaries of their lives around....through words, through memento's, through letters.
I keep imagining when we are grandparents and our ancestors seeing our social history on the web. Wow, history used to be 'old', you needed to understand the context to understand the stories. But now, the web means that we are writing our own history. We are providing the context in our pictures, in our audio, in our conversations within social media.
We are creating our own social history, we are not blogging....we are historians who are painting pictures of our own lives, our own thoughts, our own emotions.
Gosh we need to realise we are not bloggers, or podcasters, we are social historians of our time.
Now that is a power of social media which often is neglected. To be an historian in the future you may need to study Google for 3 years rather than archeology!
