A letter I penned to help explain why I believe leadership is so much more than having a great off ice and title!
Dear Boss
I thought I would write down how you make me feel seeing that you never ask.
When you solve my problems you make me feel stupid
When you don't ask my opinion you make me feel worthless
When you stay in your room you appear not interested in us
When you promise to do something and don't, we feel let down
When you spend more time with your boss than us, we feel not wanted
When you use language we don't understand we feel lost
When you tell and not what our thoughts, we feel isolated
When you have one rule for you and another for us we feel it unfair
When you don't change we write our CV's
When you put this in the bin without learning, you blew away your career
Love your team
It's true that good leaders should be concerned about the feelings of the team but not on every situation. Most employees would feel the same way about it. Maybe there is still room for improvement.

I agree there are good and bad leaders, and I was writing tongue in cheek. But I think leaders should think about the way employees feel 100% of the time - to your point not that they have to appease them but to ensure that they deal with the emotion. Thanks for your comment - great to hear from you
