Does your communication resonate? Communication is SO important - so how can you ensure that it achieves employee engagement? Well, it needs to resonate. Resonance is defined as "a sound produced in one object by sound waves coming from another" Communication is successful if it creates an action, it creates an emotional response. So how do you resonate with others R = Is it rational, can people see the reason? E = Does it explain so that people can truly understand? S = Does it suggest the recipient has a role, is it inclusive? O = Does if offer a picture of what success will look like? N = Does it offer something new - information, strategy, facts, story - otherwise why communicate? A = Is it aspirational - something that inspires people to aspire to higher achievement T = Does it tempt them by offering an answer to the "What's in it for me ?" question E = Does it appeal to their emotions, does it empathise with the individual?
