Peter Drucker is one of my all time favourite authors. I keep in my journal 10 thoughts from him that I thought I would share, in the hope they may inspire a great leadership end to the week
1) A change is something people do; a fad is something people talk about
2) Start with what is right rather than what is acceptable
3) Any organization develops people; it either forms them or deforms them
4) A decision is only a hope until carrying it out has become somebody's work assignment and responsibility, with a deadline
5) Those who perform love what they are doing
6) Change leaders should starve problems and feed opportunities
7) Knowledge work requires both autonomy and accountability.
8) All organizations need a discipline that makes them face up to reality
9) Being the one who makes your product, process, or service obsolete is the only way to prevent your competitor from doing so
10) and finally he quotes Verdi who said "All my life as a musician, I have striven for perfection. It has always eluded me. I surely had an obligation to make one more try"
For me, these leadership or business quotes show one thing....the power of words to engage the mind
Peter Drucker has been a huge inspiration in my life as well. Everything he says, hits home and really helps me balance my desire for success.
What do you think of this quote:
"Efficiency is doing things right; effectiveness is doing the right things. "
