10 'Certain' Winners in a Recession The business world if not the world in general is full of uncertainty at the moment, to some that is a problem yet I believe it is also a benefit because that means that certainty can be a selling point. Leaders and businesses who can deliver certainty in times of crisis will always stand out from the crowd. So what can you do to tap into this craving for certainty? Give certainty over what you do know and certainty over what you don't know Give certainty over your values remaining true despite the global recession Give certainty that customers and employees alike will be your core focus. Give certainty about your desire to be open to listen Give certainty about your desire to communicate. Give certainty over the need to create value not merely reduce costs Give certainty to your team that their development doesn't stop during a recession. Development doesn't need to cost anything but ...time Give certainty about what your company stands for and be true to your vision. Give certainty to the uncertainty! Recognizing that uncertainty exists but that it can be an opportunity rather than a problem. Give certainty to the need to evolve in this brave new world and that embracing change can be exhilarating. Your team will look to you to lead them through, your team will take - in large part - their mood from you...if you fear, they will fear...if you dare, then so will they.... Call me idealistic if you will, but for me the alternative is far too depressing....:)
